Nelson\Nygaard led a team to perform the Hoboken Vision Zero Action Plan, part of the City’s Vision Zero initiative. This plan serves as a roadmap for achieving the goal of zero traffic-related injuries and fatalities in Hoboken by 2030. It lays out action items and strategies, such as a data collection schedule, to identify metrics for each department to operationalize the five principles of Vision Zero. In addition, Nelson\Nygaard engaged the community throughout the process to ensure Hoboken’s Vision Zero initiative addresses actual and perceived safety concerns via a project website, with a survey and an interactive map to collect input, as well as a series of toolkits tailored for differences audiences.
The Plan will help Hoboken continue to take a leadership role in creating healthy, connected communities that advance the City’s vision for transportation equity via programmatic, operational, and capital improvements where they matter most. The Plan was adopted by City Council via resolution in July 2021.
