Cleveland Vision Zero Action Plan
Informed by public concerns and stakeholder advice, the plan lays out actions, strategies, and goals aligned with safe-system principles.
In early 2018, the Cleveland City Council passed a resolution outlining plans to change policies related to transportation, enforcement, and land use and to establish a Vision Zero Taskforce and Action Plan to achieve these goals. The creation of the City’s Vision Zero Action Plan follows City efforts to adopt and adhere to its Complete Streets Design and Implementation Plan.
Nelson\Nygaard led a team to create the Action Plan, which serves as a roadmap for achieving zero traffic-related injuries and fatalities in Cleveland. Informed by public concerns and stakeholder advice, it lays out actions, strategies, and goals aligned with safe-system principles. Input about actual and perceived safety issues was gathered through a project website along with surveys, City-wide virtual workshops, task force workshops, and two series of in-person pop-up events.
The Plan will help the City to continue to foster healthy, connected communities that advance Cleveland’s vision for transportation equity via programmatic, operational, and capital improvements where they are most needed.
