Yonghyeon is passionate about big data and transportation data analytics to discover critical insights.

Yonghyeon is a skilled data scientist with statistical and machine-learning analysis experience and highly adapt in programming languages. She specializes in processing and analyzing transportation data such as location-based service data to achieve a better understanding of travel patterns and make better transit service planning decisions. She has worked on transit ridership analysis, trip pattern analysis, and many other data-driven analysis as a part of Nelson\Nygaard’s Data, Modeling, and Analytics Team.  

Prior to Nelson\Nygaard, Yonghyeon served as a research assistant at University of Virginia’s Link Lab, where she designed a federated learning model to mimic driver characteristics, such as route choice behavior, while preserving drivers’ personal data. Her paper summarizing the project was accepted for publication in Transportation Research Record.
