Tien-Tien Chan
Tien-Tien (pronounced TIM-tim) has 15 years of public- and private-sector experience in the transportation field. She specializes in transportation demand management, parking policies, and all things multimodal. Her perspective is informed by working in local government, at a transit agency, and in private consulting. Prior to joining Nelson\Nygaard, she was a project manager at the MBTA Customer Technology Department, helping to apply modern principles of research, design, and technology to the T. While living in Texas, Tien-Tien served as the TDM Program Manager for the City of Austin, where she built the City’s first TDM program from the ground up. The program focused strongly on collaborative policy making (from land development code overhaul to special events ordinances) and programmatic solutions (from neighborhood-focused behavior change programs to region-wide emergency ride home). She started her transportation journey in consulting in San Francisco, where she co-authored CAPCOA’s Quantifying Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Measures (a foundational report assessing the quantitative benefits of TDM strategies). In her spare time, Tien-Tien serves as chair of the Transportation Research Board’s committee on TDM and bikes around Boston with her daughter.
