Miranda Adams

Associate
Miranda helps cities become less reliant on cars and more supportive of people walking, biking, and taking transit in order to reduce pollution and increase access to opportunities for all.

With a background in both public policy and advocacy, Miranda brings a practical idealism to her work that combines low-carbon transportation and equitable access to urban life. To support Southeastern Regional Transit Authority in Fall River and New Bedford, MA, Miranda designed and built a prioritization model for upgrading the system’s bus stops and estimating their cost. Using spatial and demographic analysis, Miranda similarly operationalized the project prioritization policy for bus network improvements in Wake County, NC, to ensure new funding was spent where it would be both needed and successful. She also enjoys designing maps for a wide range of projects, from bus networks to bike share locations, that are informative and easy to understand for both clients and communities.

Prior to joining Nelson\Nygaard, Miranda served as an advocate for better buses and safer roads in the New York metropolitan region, combining her expertise in mapping, data analysis, and policy. Miranda also helped build an alliance from the ground up that fights for eliminating road deaths and serious injuries in New Jersey, analyzing crashes and engineering data to make sure everyone can get home safely every night.
