Mary Cay Walp

Senior Designer
Mary Cay transforms complex ideas into visually engaging stories and designs brands that uniquely identify a client’s mission.

A graphic designer with a passion for storytelling, Mary Cay creates visually compelling documents that engage readers and clearly illuminate complex ideas. Mary Cay creates strong brands that express clients’ characters through logos, colors, and typography. She recently developed the identity for Boston’s new Link Bus network, which unifies a group of formerly independent neighborhood services with one brand, and created a brand for the Buckeye, AZ, transit study which complements, yet is distinguished from, the current city logo. Mary Cay has designed layouts, illustrations, and diagrams for TCRP's comprehensive guide to designing passenger facilities, as well as all documentation for Translink's bus speed and reliability project.

Prior to joining Nelson\Nygaard, Mary Cay collaborated with a wide range of organizations to create publications, corporate identities, and marketing collateral that communicate clearly and effectively. Her layout and visual talents are complemented by strong writing and verbal skills, resulting in work that is distinguished by a seamless integration of words, ideas, form, and typography.
