Marvin Ranaldson

Senior Associate
Marvin is passionate about creating better and more equitable transportation systems that improve quality of life for people.

Marvin has been active in multimodal transportation for nearly a decade, with experience serving in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Marvin believes that transportation choices are critical to improving access to opportunity for distressed and vulnerable populations. As a licensed cycling instructor, Marvin educates bicyclists on how to ride safely, and he uses his decades of cycling experience to advocate for safe and comfortable bicycling infrastructure. Working in transit, Marvin is an advocate for innovation and believes in using data to improve service delivery. Marvin has led transit development plans, needs assessments, and a transit network redesign, as well as operational analyses of flex-route, fixed-route, and demand-response transit service.

Before joining Nelson\Nygaard, Marvin worked in the non-profit and public sectors to improve access to quality transportation. With non-profit organizations like Bike Cleveland, All Aboard Ohio, and Clevelanders for Public Transit, Marvin elevated issues surrounding alternative transportation. As transit administrator for the City of Sandusky, Marvin developed strategies to improve paratransit, fixed-route, and demand-response services for the City. In addition to transit planning, Marvin has experience with grants, project and contract management, as well as labor relations.
