Joseph Poirier
Joe is a transportation planner, researcher, and advocate who specializes in transit planning, transit electrification, and decongestion pricing. His clients range from small communities—such as Huntsville, AL, and Iowa City, IA—to large organizations, such as the cities of Boston and San Francisco, King County Metro, and the Southern California Association of Governments. Joe’s transit work is informed by a technical and theoretical understanding of transportation and economics, along with a qualitative understanding of politics and social issues. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and local pollution from transportation is a key driver of his work. Joe uses his skills to help transportation providers grow ridership, increase non-auto mode share, and provide cost-efficient services.
Joe understands the relationships among economic development, the environment, land use, and transportation. He has published journal articles and a book chapter on economics and transportation and presented this work to national audiences.
