Carolyn is committed to building equitable and just cities where all people can thrive.

Carolyn advocates for healthy, livable cities that allow all community members to live with dignity. Her commitment to equitable and just transportation systems is informed by her years working in direct service, providing support to unhoused and under-resourced individuals and communities. She has worked in both the public and nonprofit sectors, where she managed public health programs and advocated for smart local policies that promote community health. Prior to Nelson\Nygaard, Carolyn worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health managing a coalition of community members, elected officials, and health professionals. She brings with her both qualitative and quantitative analysis skills, as well as a wealth of experience in gender and racial equity, diversity, and inclusion.
