Asif is fascinated by the connections people have with cities, held together by the bonds of transportation networks. He is intrigued by how transportation and related investments facilitate healthier, stronger relationships between people and places. Asif’s academic background includes transportation planning; urban and regional planning; environmental law, policy, and economics; and news and information. His range of skills include spatial analysis, statistical analysis, data visualization and storytelling, community engagement, and quantitative and qualitative analysis at large. Before joining Nelson\Nygaard, Asif served the City of Portland and State of Oregon in planning, research, public involvement, data science, and transportation roles. He engaged in local and statewide projects and helped progress plans and policies at similar scales, seeing actions and ideas come to fruition.
