The Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering is the City’s lead agency for the planning, design, and construction management of public buildings, infrastructure, and open space projects. The work conducted by the Bureau improves the daily lives of all Angelenos. The Bureau also strives to provide excellent public service through extensive community engagement and is a key agent in realizing the City’s goals of creating a prosperous, livable, and resilient city for all residents and businesses.
This 2019–2021 Strategic Plan builds on the great reputation and work that the Bureau produced to tackle anticipated challenges such as growing teams and new technologies. The Strategic Plan provides actionable initiatives to ensure the Bureau continues to play a significant role in meeting the City’s goals and continues to serve as a national leader in the field.
The Nelson\Nygaard team facilitated the development of the Strategic Plan by assembling a well-organized team experienced in engaging stakeholders. Through a series of four workshops highlighted by interactive activities, survey efforts to involve staff at all levels, and meetings with the executive team, we were able to help the Bureau craft a vision for their future. The plan identifies 47 actions across four goals to reach a consensus for prioritizing the efforts of the Bureau over the next three years.
