Ben Kaufman works to improve people’s travel experience through community outreach and engagement.

Ben has more than seven years of experience in transportation planning and advocacy. He specializes in the rider experience and excels at working with diverse populations to achieve a collective vision for efficient, accessible, and equitable transportation options. He brings strong skills in graphic design, mapping, community outreach, marketing and communications, and quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Ben has worked on a variety of transportation plans and projects throughout the Bay Area, state, and nation. His projects include curb management design guidelines for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), a student transit pass program for the Alameda County Transportation Commission, and a regional transit study for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Before joining Nelson\Nygaard, Ben led a service mapping effort at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, authored bus stop improvement guidelines for AC Transit, and co-founded the San Francisco Transit Riders.
