Central Arkansas, which encompasses Little Rock, was looking for a way to build on its existing efforts to develop a vibrant, dynamic, and desirable place to live. The Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA) wanted to chart the future course of transit service in the region, improve the effectiveness of existing services, and support the economic development of Central Arkansas.
Nelson\Nygaard analyzed how well the existing network met the needs of current passengers and identified and prioritized opportunities for service expansion and improvement. We compared CATA’s current approach to transit funding to best practices found around the country and found additional funding opportunities to support the region’s service goals and priorities.
To help convey CATA’s new vision, Nelson\Nygaard helped rebrand the system, including vehicles, signage, and passenger information materials. In January, the board approved changing its name to Rock Region Metro and to overhaul the look of its fleet.
