Balboa Area Transportation Demand Management Plan

Like many neighborhoods in San Francisco, the Balboa Area continues to grow, including an increasing number of student and employees commuting to City College of San Francisco. Due to limited roadway, transit infrastructure, and financial resources, a better way to manage the transportation demand for City College students and surrounding neighbors is needed.

Nelson\Nygaard heard from the community and conducted a survey with City College students. We developed a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Plan that built upon existing transportation infrastructure and identified strategies to improve current and future options for commuters, residents, employees, visitors, and students of all ages, means, and schedules.

The TDM Plan is in response to public input to the Balboa Park Station Community Action Committee (CAC), to the Balboa Reservoir CAC, and at public workshops in the neighborhood. The plan supports the goals of pedestrian safety and access to transit, affordable housing, and road space for all users.
