office is currently hiring for the following position:
Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates (N\N) seeks a highly organized,
independent and motivated Intern for its San Francisco office.
This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person to become
involved in N\N's practice, which is focused on multi-modal transportation
planning for livable communities. N\N's work emphasizes creative,
innovative transit/transportation planning and community involvement,
often within a wider set of goals such as economic development
and reduced dependence on the private automobile.
Responsibilities
The Transportation Planning Intern is expected to:
- Assist with data collection activities and analysis in the
office and/or field
- Collect, enter, tabulate and analyze demographic and performance
data
- Prepare brief memos explaining methodology and findings
- Assist with the preparation of Existing Conditions Reports
- Conduct research as needed to assist senior staff on projects
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have either completed a BA/BS in Urban
or Transportation Planning or be currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate
planning program. Solid experience with MS Office, SPSS and GIS
is preferred.
Salary and Benefits
This is a part-time position (typically 12-18 hours/week). Interns
are paid $15/hour.

planning firm with offices in San Francisco, Boston, Portland,
New York and Seattle. Having led the transportation planning
for nearly 100 New Urbanist projects, Nelson\Nygaard is
now seeking to expand its services to cover more aspects
of transportation engineering. We are seeking registered
professional engineers in all our offices with experience
in:
- Traffic analysis in Synchro
- Design of rail station areas and transit intermodals
- Street design in complex, urban, multimodal context
- Vehicle trip generation and mode split analysis for
TODs and mixed use development
- Transit ridership forecasting and modeling
Qualifications
Applicants must have an urbanist perspective, experience
with context-sensitive or context-directed design, and
a deep understanding of how the needs of all modes can
be balanced in limited street rights of way.
