Transit Service:
Nelson\Nygaard will maintain its strength
in all aspects of transit service, design and operations planning,

in all aspects of transportation planning for seniors and
people with disabilities, including paratransit planning,

to integrate community design and transportation planning
for older adults.
Multimodal Transportation:
Nelson\Nygaard will strengthen its position
as a leader in balancing the needs of all modes of transportation
in complex multimodal environments, including corridor studies,
rail station area plans, and citywide and downtown access
plans. We will continue to deepen our expertise in the technical
requirements of all modes.
Traffic Engineering:

Smart Growth and Transit Oriented Development:
Nelson\Nygaard will lead the industry
in understanding the relationships among transportation planning,
land use planning and demand management.
Program Management:
Nelson\Nygaard will continue to build
our planning strength by providing ongoing program management
and implementation assistance for projects that support this
Strategic Plan.
Financial Planning:
Nelson\Nygaard will continue to develop
our strength in financial planning, ensuring that our recommended
plans are supported by practical and sustainable funding strategies.
Public Participation and Information:
Nelson\Nygaard will continue to integrate
public participation into all of our practice areas, training
all planning staff in successful techniques.
Climate Change and Sustainability:
With 40-50% of US CO2 emissions coming from the transportation sector – and 80% of those coming from personal mobility – NN will use all of the above skills to identify cost effective solutions for climate protection and promote the overall sustainability of our cities and economy.
