At a November 2013 conference hosted by the Boston Society of Architects and AIA, Jeff Tumlin offered insight on how to create infrastructure systems that are needed to make a difference in people’s lives.

The Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority in Flagstaff received the highest honor a transit system can receive, an Award for Best Run Transit System in 2013 by the American Public Transportation Association. NAIPTA was recognized for launching the Mountain Link bus rapid transit system, which decreased accidents per mile by 64 percent, implemented a real time arrival system, and cut emissions by almost 90 percent by switching to a primarily hybrid-electric fleet. Nelson\Nygaard, working with lead consultant Kimley-Horn, led the transit system analysis and completed a Bus Rapid Transit and Long Range Plan for the agency.
