New York – December 6, 2012 – It’s easy to forget that most of New York City is on three different islands.

It’s a commercial city where the water does not play a big a role in that commerce for most residents. Because of that, we’ve forgotten that the city is here because of everything the water provided:  transport, food, and safety. We turned our back on that water for years by paving the edges and making the coastline some of the least accessible locations throughout the city.
